The mini pressure compensation seal (PCS) from Schreiner ProTech was selected by First Sensor, a global leader in the field of sensor technology, as the closure solution for the housings of its air conditioning control units. The small, self-adhesive membrane combines effective equalization of pressure differences inside the housing with reliable protection of the highly sensitive sensors in the component’s interior against external influences like liquids and dirt.

To apply around 350,000 mini pressure compensation sensors to the PCBs each year, First Sensor decided to apply the DAEs in its Siplace placement machine (ASM Assembly Systems) using a Slimline Label Feeder from pb tec solutions. Application takes place at the same time as SMD placement - as easily and quickly as a standard component.

The Slimline-Label-Feeder (LFS) has a width of 30 mm and is suitable for both the supply of labels as well as special - or functional parts, if they are in a single row, applied to a carrier material. The LFS has a so-called teach-in function for easy teach-in of label length, as well as a counter that counts the processed labels. An adjustable error display allows the user to determine after how many unrecognized label positions the feeder should switch to error status. Its conveying speed can be adjusted so that even special labels can be safely deposited at the pick-up position. The empty liner material is collected in the integrated waste box and can easily be removed without stoppping the pick & places system. (mrc)
