The splicing of component tapes is used to connect two tapes together. This means that the component reel in the tape feeder does not have to be changed, but a new, full component tape can be spliced to the empty tape outside the pick-and-place machine without having to stop the production line. This reduces downtimes and prevents the loss of components.

For splicing, the tapes must first be cut straight. The cutting device ensures a precise cut, after which the tapes are joined together using the splicing tool and double-sided splicing tape, resulting in an almost invisible connection.
